My family and I had a good fathers day. I whipped up a card in the morning for my dad and hid it somewhere where he'd find it, so that went well. In the evening, we went to this indian "chat" (chat = salad...reallly realllllly good salad) house and ordered a few things. We ate "golgapas" (crispy, hollow things shaped like eggs. They're filled with potatoes, spices and a water based sauce thing), followed by one of my favourites, Chat Papari, which is chick peas, potatoes, yoghurt and these really tasty crispy things. Everything is covered in a bunch of Indian chutneys. Lastly, I forget the name, but we had this rice thing, but neither of us liked it. Then we went to Strawberry Hill cinemas and watched some movies. My mom and dad went to watch a hindi movie while my brother and I went to watch Kung Fu Panda, now one of my favourite movies of this summer.

Kung Fu Panda time.

This movie I really liked. Starring Jack Black as the Kung Fu obsessed panda, Po, this movie surprised me. With its witty humour, great CGI (some of the environments and scenaries were mindblowing) and quirky fight scenes, you'll get some good laughs out of this movie. I enjoyed the fact it wasn't slapstick comedy or that stupid humor you find in cartoons, it was much more witty. The fight scenes are a must watch, especially the one over some chinese dish thingy.

Now, for some Mario Kart Wii news. I've been doing really good in the game, I just beat all the cups in 100cc and tomorrow I plan on beating all the 150cc cups. Right now, I use Rosalina in the Wario Bike.

d into one.

Don't get me wrong now, Mario Kart Wii is a great game. I picked it up a few days ago, found a control scheme I liked ('Mote and Nunchuck) and a character/kart/bike matchup I liked (Waluigi in the Wario Bike), learned the ropes and then spent the next few days playing the game online. (The online play is great.) I decided to take to single player yesterday. The 50cc and 100cc cups weren't hard at all, but once I got the 150cc, insane! In one race, I got hit by 2 blue shells. In a ROW. I went from first to last in a mere 5 seconds. The AI is just too powerful.

Done my exams, so it's safe to assume the school year is over.

Now then, I'm expecting a very boring summer, so I'm thinking of something to do to spice it up. Any ideas?

My ap skills teacher, Mr. Olson is a pretty awesome guy. My friends and I ended up killing a lot of time during the huge breaks between our final exams by just talking to him. I learned some new 80's (I think) terminology, such as what a Space Cadet was and what Granolas are and about silicon valley and stuff. I also learned some camera history and cameras to buy. I plan on either getting a Pentax K-1000 or a Canon EOS 650.

Now, onto another topic, 2D VS 3D.

http://wesnerm.blogs.com/net_undocumented/2004/02/3d_versus_2d_an.html

I read this article, and it's great.

Now, onto cartoons today. Remember back when cartoons were actually hand drawn? I don't. I grew up in the era when all cartoons looked like some piece of modern art made in Adobe Flash.

I don't know about you, but that seems like something that anyone with knowledge of how to create vectors could easily do in a matter of minutes. The storylines for cartoons like this are often incredibly stupid, which is why kids find them funny.

Scrabble + Camera = this. Turned out pretty cool. I suck at scrabble, I can't improvise very well. I plan out some elaborate word, but it gets foiled when my opponent plays some pieces where I intended on playing mine.

I'm a tad bit disappointed that I can't take Digital Photo 11 right now...maybe one day...sigh. I'm going to be taking analog, but it's not going to be the same without Mr. Olson lol Hopefully it's still fun. Hopefully Mr. Olson doesn't mind me still sending in my shots and, if I decide to keep blogging, my blogs.
So, my Socials and Science finals are over with, that's great. The Socials one was surprisingly easy, the Science one was...erm...confusing. Hopefully I still end up doing well though. Other than that, there's not much more I have to say, but here's a little rant about Town Pantry.

Many students of churchill visit this Town Pantry, which is next to that chevron on that street that I pass when I decide to walk back home from school but I don't know the street name of...or whatever. I go there about once every two weeks and I have been since Grade 8. Back in Grade 8, the slushies they sold were called "cool zone". They'd give you a card with a stamp on it for every "cool zone" slushie that you'd buy, so I had this card with around 6 or 7 stamps on it which I found in my wallet today. If you get 9 stamps, you get a free slushie. Now then, recently they renamed "cool zone" slushies to "FrznCld". Now, I had a FrznCld card with 2 stamps on it, so I'm thinking, I guess I can get a free slushie. The text on both the cards is exactly the same...there's no expiration date...the stamp they used is the same. Heck, the product is the same. They just changed the freaking name. It turns out, although I am able to "combine" the stamps on two or more cards, the cashier would not accept my "cool zone" slushie card. Why? He just said they don't accept these why. He couldn't give any good reason. "They're the same product, all you guys did was change the name.", I argued. Well, it turns out that that's up to the administration.

Well, now what? I'm boycotting FrznCld slushies until they change this stupid policy. Honestly, they're not that great either, they're just the cheapest slushie availible. I'd rather go to Mac's or Esso's and get a slushie from them, they've got higher quality ones IMO.

It's getting late now, so good night.

I hate this textbook and disagree with using it entirely. Same as last year, when studying for finals, it is useless. Sure, the info is good and may be of higher quality than the regular grade 9 socials textbook, but for studying, it is useless. It is out of date, contains some innaccurate info (the creator of the Water Frame for example is wrongly credited to Arkwright), and lastly, it is USELESS to study from. Why? Last year, what I did was read through each chapter. The descriptions the textbook gives are soooooooo long that it's not even funny. It takes ages to find one piece of information. Unlike the regular Grade 9 textbook, there are no study sections, no glossarys, no helpful bubbles on the sides, no this, no that. I hate this textbook and I think that Middle Years students should move on to using the regular grade 9 textbook. The teachers can then include supplementary information in their lectures and notes.

The latest game I've found myself addicted to is the classic Link's Awakening DX. It's a remake of the 993 one (not DX) with colour, which is quite cool. The gameplay is solid and I'm actually good at it. I've noticed that I suck at 3D Zelda games but rock at 2D ones.

We all worked hard. There was a lot of sweat. And blood. And tears. But now it's over. We have completed one of the biggest projects we will ever have.

Now get to work and do your Memory Book and STI Fair!

Also, I can't take Digi Photo because of Pre-IB :( So sad...I have to take Analog now, but I don't like analog...what should I do?!

As you may or may not know, I'm vegetarian. Recently, we (my family and I) started being these veggie patties called "Chick N' Burgers" made by Yves, they're supposed to taste like chicken and are made from chick peas. I don't know if they taste like chicken, but they taste great.

I do, and a lot might I add. I remember back in early elementary school, before the 7th grade, when you weren't even allowed to use a computer for your homework. You needed to handwrite everything. You couldn't use any electronics to aid you in your work. I felt like that was something very binding, very constricting at the time. The concept of using computers in schoolwork was quite new at the time and wasn't widely accepted by teachers, who thought Microsoft Word's spell check will make students lazy over time (it has, I misspell things a lot when writing on paper). I  thought that it's a lot faster and easier to do, it doesn't hurt your hands as much and it looks neater, which is great if you have messy printing. If I thought I was constricted back then, look at me now. I spend a majority of each day on the computer. Before high school, I only found myself using the computer for a maximum of 2 hours a day, mainly to play video games and surf the net, but now, it's not surprising to see me spending up to eight hours on the computer, trying to get a project done. Many of my teachers have stopped accepting handwritten assignments, heck some dock marks if you try to give one in. Projects now require you to often create powerpoints, which again add up to your time spent on the computer. Researching online also adds to my time spent on the computer as part of school work.

Not to mention, my eyes start to hurt a lot more often now.
